Launch of Park Road Centre Cobh

Cobh Community Care in association with Respond Voluntary Housing Association are delighted to announce the launch of the Park Road Centre. The objective of Cobh Community Care is to provide High Dependency Assisted Living Accommodation and a Day Care Centre offering facilities for the elderly in the community.

Forty three (43) New Homes will be provided, along with a purpose built Day Care Centre which will incorporate a specialist facility for people suffering from Alzheimer's.

This is the biggest development in Sheltered Housing to happen in Cobh.

With the help of the Southern Health Board, medical services will be provided for the elderly of Cobh and the surrounding area from the Park Road Centre. The Centre will provide a safe and secure environment where people suffering from Alzheimer's can attend for sessional periods. On completion of the development, suitable sheltered and supported housing, wherein people can live in a community supported environment, will be available. The day Care Centre will be connected to the Cobh General Hospital by a lift.

Funding

The total cost of the Development will be approx. £3.1m and £2.8m has been secured from State resources.

£300,000 is to be raised from benefactor and voluntary donations of which £200,000 has already been gifted to the project from the Bon Secours Sisters, as site value.

A model of the Centre will be on display at various locations and functions in Cobh during the next Year.

Appeal

We are now launching the fundraising appeal for £100,000. We appeal for contributions for this development which we believe will help to improve the quality of life of the old and those suffering from Alzheimers in the Cobh area. We appeal in particular to Cobhites who have experienced the need for High Dependency Assisted Living Accommodation for relatives in the Cobh area and the shortage of such accommodation in the region. We are addressing the problem but we need the financial support of the Cobh community both at home and abroad. Cobh Community Care is a voluntary housing agency with charitable status, which is working to improve facilities for the elderly in the Cobh area.
